From a privately owned, modern winery in the eastern part of Puglia in the Taranto region, Alana McGettigan and her winemaking team aim to make a clean, fresh and vibrant Primitivo that is both modern and typical of the variety.
The team selects fruit from the best parcels of bush-trained vines on the estate, looking for grapes that are ripe, but not shriveled.
The name, La Masseria, refers to the traditional, fortified Puglian farmhouse which forms the heart of any working farm in the region.
This classic Primitivo is deep ruby red in colour, with intense aromas of ripe red fruits and wild strawberries. It is full-bodied and well-balanced, with soft tannins and a spicy finish.
